Abstract

This project about artistic research consists of exploring the process of re-signification in the work Music for 18 Musicians, composed by Steve Reich in 1976, and taking it to a heterotopic space, where the listener can dialogue with the artist, and in which the line between the two is blurred. The sound, the indeterminate percussions and the techniques that I have used for producing this live, inspired in some cases in the world of DJ, bring the version that I have prepared to the field of popular music, with the will of normalize procedures that could be done in free-dance spaces. Music For 100 Dancers is a spiral process that aims to achieve a know-how that progresses in each rotation, reinforced through an updated musicological analysis, viewed from various angles. At the same time, a knowledge-that is produced: thanks to the exploration of the theoretical framework, which includes conceptual aspects of meaning, performance and musical technology, and a state of the art in which I observe both the spaces for reflection about artistic research, and what is being done in similar projects, we will be able to become more conscious of the act of sound creation.
